Cookie Policy

Last updated: 3 September 2026, version 1.0

This cookie policy lists everything ownvox.app stores in your browser. It supplements the privacy policy, which describes the processing in detail.

1. What cookies and browser storage are

Cookies are small text files that a website places in your browser and reads again on later visits. Besides cookies, websites use other browser storage: local storage (persists until deleted), session storage (deleted when the tab is closed) and Cache Storage (for larger files). The same rules apply to all of them: what is technically necessary for the feature you requested may be stored without consent (Section 25(2) no. 2 of the German TDDDG). Everything else only if you agree (Section 25(1) TDDDG).

2. Our principles

  • We use a single tool that requires consent: audience measurement with PostHog. It only starts once you agree.
  • There are no advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking and no social media plugins.
  • Declining is as easy as accepting: the buttons in the banner are the same size, and your refusal is stored so the banner does not come back.

3. Technically necessary storage (without consent)

NameTypeSet byPurposeRetention
ownvox_consentCookieownvox.appstores your cookie choice (version, time, statistics yes/no) so the banner does not appear on every visit12 months
NEXT_LOCALECookieownvox.appremembers the language you last used the site in (after a language switch or the automatic detection from your browser language) so you land in the right language next timeSession (until you close the browser)
themeLocal storageownvox.appstores whether you chose the light or the dark designuntil you delete site data
transformers-cacheCache Storageownvox.appstores the speech model (about 77 MB) for the browser tools audio to text, voice message to text, speech to text and the typing test so it does not have to be downloaded on every use and the tools also work offline. Only created once you use one of these tools.until you delete site data

4. Audience measurement (only with consent)

Only when you choose "Accept all" in the banner or switch on statistics in the settings do we load the analytics library of PostHog, Inc. (EU instance, storage in Frankfurt am Main). The following entries then appear; the two ownvox_… entries are written by the website itself but serve this statistic only:

NameTypeSet byPurposeRetention
ph_…_posthogCookie and local storagePostHog via ownvox.apprandom visitor identifier and session data so page views of the same person are counted together. No person profile, no link to name or email.12 months
ph_…_window_idSession storagePostHog via ownvox.appidentifier of the current browser tab for the session lengthuntil you close the tab
ph_…_primary_window_existsSession storagePostHog via ownvox.appflag whether this tab is the first tab opened in the sessionuntil you close the tab
ownvox_checkoutSession storageownvox.appbridges the switch to the checkout and back so that a completed purchase is attributed to the right plan in the statisticsuntil you close the tab
ownvox_internalLocal storageownvox.appmarks browsers of our own team so internal visits are filtered out of the statistics. Only set if the page was opened with a special internal parameter; normal visitors are not affected.until deleted

What PostHog records and what it explicitly does not is described in section 6 of the privacy policy. If you withdraw your consent, we delete these entries immediately and no longer load the library.

5. Third-party storage in embedded content

Two services may set their own cookies in your browser in certain situations. We have no control over them; the providers' cookie policies apply.

ProviderWhenPurpose
Lemon Squeezy, LLConly when you click a purchase button and the checkout opens in an embedded frameshopping cart, fraud prevention and the checkout session. Nothing from Lemon Squeezy loads before the click.
Cloudflare, Inc.on every visit, because the website is delivered through Cloudflare's networkCloudflare may set one technically necessary cookie for security features (__cf_bm, up to 30 minutes, or cf_clearance after a security check) that distinguishes legitimate visitors from automated attacks. It contains no information about you personally.

The browser tools at ownvox.app/tools load their speech model from Hugging Face; this download sets no cookies.

6. Changing your choice

Via the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page you can switch statistics on or off at any time. Your change takes effect immediately.

Independently of this, you can delete all cookies and site data of ownvox.app in your browser or block cookies altogether. If you delete the ownvox_consent cookie, the banner appears again on your next visit. If you delete the Cache Storage, the respective browser tool downloads its speech model again on next use.

7. Changes

When we introduce new storage or change existing storage, we update this policy and, where appropriate, raise the version of your cookie choice so that the banner asks you again. The current version is always at ownvox.app/en/cookie-policy.
