Yes. By default, Ownvox transcribes your speech on your own PC using local Whisper and Parakeet models, with no internet connection required. Cloud models are optional and stay off unless you enable them for a specific feature.

Which versions of Windows does it support?

Ownvox runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11 (64-bit). There is also a macOS version for Apple Silicon, so you can use the same workflow across both systems.

Does it work in Word, Outlook and other apps?

Yes. Ownvox works system-wide and inserts text wherever your cursor is, so it works in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Teams, your browser, Slack, code editors and almost any other Windows application.

How accurate is the dictation?

Ownvox uses modern on-device speech models (Whisper and NVIDIA Parakeet) that produce punctuated, formatted text in 50+ languages. Accuracy is comparable to leading cloud tools, without sending your audio away.

Is my voice data private?

By default your audio never leaves your computer. If you enable a cloud feature, it runs on EU infrastructure (Hetzner in Germany, Scaleway in France) with zero data retention, and you can disable all cloud features with one switch.
